I propose a paper exploring the significant contributions of writer/executive producer Marti Noxon to BTVS. The main focus will be that the sophistication, complexity, and sense of drama were increased in season two, corresponding directly with Noxon becoming involved with the series. I cite "What’s My Line, parts 1 and 2" as ground zero for a heightened level of excellence for the series, and those were the first Noxon-scripted episodes to be broadcast. While it would be unfair to claim that she is the only reason for the series’ achievements, a strong case can be made that Noxon, behind Joss Whedon, is the chief architect for the series’ success. My paper will cite specific episodes, starting with "What’s My Line", and continue through later episodes, such as "Into The Woods" and "Villains." I will also address the criticism leveled at Noxon forher handling of the controversial sixth season.
