Notwithstanding the philosophical attention academics have given the Buffiverse, the work of Emanuel Levinas has been underutilized in spite of its relevance. Drawing especially from the work of Jessica Prata Miller's exploration of feminist ethics in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Philosophy, this paper will elaborate Levinas as an ethicist and relate his conception of Otherness through "Hush," an episode ostensibly about the inability "to find words," yet truly about the inability to encounter the Other through language.
