Catherine Spooner is currently Lecturer in English and American Literature at the University of Reading, but is to move to a new post at Lancaster University in September 2004. She is the author of
Fashioning Gothic Bodies (Manchester University Press, 2004), an exploration of the relationship between fashion discourses and Gothic literature and film from the late eighteenth century to the present, which incorporates discussion of
Buffy among many other subjects. Her next book will be
Contemporary Gothic, forthcoming from Reaktion Books in 2004-5, and she is also working on a study of post-war youth subcultures in fiction,
Subcultural Fictions: Writing the Underground.
