Deany M. Cheramie's claim to fame is that her last name means "dear friend" in French (which is hard to live up to but she tries). She is a Cajun by birth and is proud of it. Professionally, she teaches lots of freshmen composition and likes it, and is willing to teach anyone how to write. She is a member of a number of acronyms including CCCC, NCTE, LACC, WPA, and AAUP. When not grading papers or meeting students, she is reading science fiction/fantasy literature, practicing her Cajun dancing, or riding her motorcycle.
