Dawn and Buffy sat together in the kitchen eating waffles. Today was a Saturday so neither Dawn or Buffy had school or work. Things had been tense with the sisters for a while, and they still couldn’t talk normally to each other.

“So what are we gonna do today?”

Buffy shrugged,

“What do you want to do?”

Dawn shrugged. She began to hum a few verses of the song ‘My girl’. She smiled up at Buffy,

“Remember when we used to watch that movie over and over again? That was fun. I actually watched it with Spike the other day.”

Buffy’s head shot up and the mention of Spike’s name.

“Why were you with Spike?”

Dawn smiled,

“He was teaching me history. He’s pretty good at it, knows a lot.”

Buffy nodded,

“Well he was there for most of it.”

Both sister started to laugh. It was the first time in months.

“Why do you hate him Buff?”

Buffy looked down at her uneaten food on her plate,

“I guess I’m still getting over the whole trying to kill me and my friends thing. We need to rebuild the trust.”

Dawn nodded and smiled,

“He risked his life for me y’know. He risked his life for you too. He’s a great guy when you get to know him. He used to write poetry, know that?”

Buffy giggled at the thought of it,

“That’s how he got the name William the Bloody.”

Dawn was confused,

“I thought that was because of the railroad spikes.”

Buffy shook her head and smiled,

“He got that name when he was human, because of his bloody awful poetry.”

Dawn and Buffy both started to laugh. Dawn began to hum again but then she started to sing:

“I’ve got shadows, on a sunny day,”

Buffy joined in,

“Boom de boom de boom de boom, de boom,

when it’s cold outside I don’t feel a thing.”

Dawn carried on,

“Boom de boom de boom de boom, de boom,

and I hear you say, what can make me feel this way,

my vampire,”

Buffy sang,

“My vampire, my vampire,

talking about my vampire.”

Then both girls said at once,

“My vampire.”

The pain finished in a fit of giggles and Dawn hugged her sister,

“I’ve missed this.”

Buffy nodded,

“me too.”

Just then a flaming blanket flew into the house. Buffy and Dawn looked at each other and laughed out loud as Spike removed his blanket,

“Hello all.”

Both Buffy and Dawn ran up to him and hugged him,

“Thank you Spike.”

Buffy said and Spike was very confused,

“Alright, It’s a pleasure.”

The rest of the day was spent singing and laughing and having a good time, and it was all thanks to Spike’s misfortune.
