Vampire Family:

Darla:

Born in the late sixteenth century, she lived in the Virginian colony. She was a prostitute dying of syphilis when the Master met her. posing as a priest, he transformed her into a vampire. She doesn’t remember her human name.
Named Darla by the Master, she has his favors. She gets away with much more than the other members of the order of Aurelius.

‘She was my favorite. For 400 years.’ –the Master

Darla: He's a good one! His blood is pure!

Master: You've tasted it.

Master: I'm your... faithful dog. You bring me scraps.

Darla: I, I didn't mean it...

But, in 1753, the sight of Liam drives her away from her sire. She turns him into a vampire and they become lovers. When Liam, now known as Angel, meets the Master, he is defiant and refuses to obey. Darla leaves her sire for her lover and they set off together, killing anybody on their path.

They live many lifetimes together until they encounter Drusilla in 1860. Darla now has to share her love, though is doesn’t really seem to bother her. She does suggest that Dru should find her own playmate. Playmate who is Spike. They are now four and ready for fun.

In 1898, she brings Angel a gypsy girl as a present for his re-birthday, provoking her family’s revenge, resulting in Angel soul being restored.

Disgusted, she throws him out, threatening to kill him. She finds the gypsies with Spike and Drusilla, and tries to force them to reverse the spell, but it just ends up in a major massacre.

Is there anything better than a natural disaster? The panic. The people lost in the streets. It's like picking fruit off the vine. -Darla

She gives Angel a second chance, but when he saves a baby, it’s definitely over. She hangs with Spike and Dru for a while, but finally returns to the Master.

1997, Sunnydale. Darla is once again a member of the Master’s court and is planning the Harvest. When she kidnaps Jesse, Xander’s friend, she comes face to face with Buffy. She is shocked to see that she can fight her. she runs back to tell the Master who identifies Buffy as the Slayer.

Jesse: Y'know, you gave me a hickey.

Darla: I got hungry on the way.

Darla soon meets Angel again and wants him back, with or without the soul, and is extremely jealous of his liking for Buffy. She plans a scheme to bring Angel ‘back to the fold’. She tries to make him drink Buffy’s mother’s blood but he refuses and then decides to kill Buffy in front of him. She is shocked when Angel dusts her.

'You and I both know what you hunger for. What you need. Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's who we are. It's what makes eternal life worth living. Mm. You can only suppress your real nature for so long. You can feel it brewing inside of you. I hope I'm around when it explodes.’  -Darla

2000, L.A. Angel is haunted by dreams about his former lover and he soon finds out that she is back, brought back to life by Wolfram & Hart. He also discovers that she is human, with a soul. But her soul is starting to show. She is in pain and wants it to stop, with no care for redemption. She begs Angel to make the pain stop by making her a vampire, but he refuses. She leaves, furious, but soon runs into her old friend Drusilla who sires her.

Dru:

Drusilla was a fairly ordinary girl, headed for a convent, when she caught Angelus' eye. He made her crazy before he brought her across -- and boy, does it show. Bird Woman may not have that much going on upstairs except visions, but she's got the killing thing down pat. She stole Spike's heart -- and trampled it in the dust on her way out the door. Now, she's another one raising hell in Los Angeles, when she's not making side trips back to her old hometown.... Sired by Angelus, and Spike's long-time love, Drusilla is on her own these days, raising hell in her own insane fashion. Brought to L.A. by Wolfram & Hart to bring Darla back to the world of the undead, she joined her 'grandmother' on a killing spree, until Angel lit both their worlds on fire. No one knows where Dru will turn up next -- Sunnydale or L.A. -- but at least things will never be boring.

Penn:

Penn:  We were to meet in Italy, remember?

Angel:  I remember.

Penn:  Well, I waited. Hell I waited until the nineteenth century. What happened?

Angel:  Got held up in Romania.

Penn:  Romania? What's in Romania?

Angel:  Gypsies.

Penn was sired by Angelus in the late 1700s. His first kill was his sister. He moved on to kill his entire family, taking them as they feasted. Angelus made him a killing machine, teaching him everything he knew. Penn started out life as a Puritan, but once the demon was in him, he became a relentless and remorseless monster. For 200 years he has relived his first nights as a vampire over and over again, enacting the kills as serial murders. He killed in Los Angeles in 1929 and 1963, returning each time to the same spot. In 1929 it was the Regents Gardens Hotel, and in 1963 it was the Clover wood Apartments. He may have been responsible for deaths in Boston in 1908.

In this incarnation in current day LA, he has been dubbed by the tabloids as "The Pope," most likely due to his "signature": a Christian cross carved into the victim's left cheek. He has left four victims in his wake: Reggie Sparks, crossing guard; Jinny Markem, 10th grader; Jessica Halpern, 25, a waitress; and a nameless woman. He nearly killed a fifth victim, a young itinerant man, but the police interceded in time.

The police speculate that Penn signs his work with a cross to show that he does God's work, but Angel's theory is that he is mocking God.

As Penn holds Angel before him in a full-nelson, Kate shoves a jagged column of wood up through Angel's stomach and into Penn's heart.

James and Elizabeth

Ron Melendez...as James

Kate Norby...as Elizabeth

Elizabeth:  You know neither poetry, nor love, Angelus.
Darla:  He knows other things, marvelously vile and ripping things.

Vampire lovers and former acquaintances of Angelus and Darla, circa 1767. They are at least 234 years old. James and Elizabeth have an enduring love that burns with fierce vampire passion. When Angel kills Elizabeth (recognizing her by the locket she wears around her neck), James becomes invincible by the hand of Dr. Gregory, and seeks vengeance on Angel. Angel stakes him and throws him out in the sun, but it is time that finally destroys James.

Angel

The vampire with a soul, who reverted to Angelus when he experienced pure happiness. Before becoming a vampire Angels name was Liam, a gambler and a drunk. Until Darla turned him into a Vampire. The meanest vampire, meaner than The Master and more cruel.

"For a hundred years, I offered an ugly death to everyone I met. And I did it with a song in my heart'

For about 200 years hell reigned for Angelus and Darla, Spike and Drusilla were ruling the Earth, until one night Darla brought Angelus a gypsy girl. The gypsy clan did the worst thing possible and gave Angelus a soul returning him to Angel. For years Angel walked the streets living on rats till he met a demon called Whistler. Whistler introduced him to Buffy, who Angel helped out randomly. Something led to another and Angel and Buffy hooked up and became a couple, Angel experienced a moment of pure happiness and tuned to Angelus.

Spike: No more of this 'I've got a soul' crap?
Angelus: What can I say? I was going through a phase.

Angelus made Buffy and the Scoobies life hell tortured Buffy and killed Miss Calender, in the season finale of the second season Angelus got his soul and Buffy sent him to hell. Though Angel came back to Sunnydale he and Buffy realized there was no future for them and Angel left to go to LA.

In LA Angel met a half demon called Doyle who had mind shattering visions, he was sent to help Angel on his path of redemption, till Doyle died and passed his visions onto Cordelia who was working for Angel. Wesley is the book guy who came into Angel as a Rouge Demon Hunter and is almost best friends with Gunn.

Angelus

The young Liam met Darla  in an alley in Galway in 1753 in his twenty-sixth year of life. Admired both his good looks and his roguish ways, she sired him into unlife. He initiated himself as a vampire by brutally killing his family and their friends, and mostly everyone else in the village. He started with the cemetery groundskeeper shortly after rising from the grave. He terrorized Galway for an indeterminate amount of time before going back to his abandoned home. His sister was the first to fall victim, as she welcomed him back as her "Angel" (perhaps, inadvertently naming him) and invited him into the house. His mother followed as his next victim. His father was the last family member to fall.

Angelus was the scourge of Europe for over a century. In 1860, he met Drusilla, an innocent clairvoyant, whom he drove mad. She fled to a convent, and on the day she was to take her Holy Orders, Angelus turned her into a vampire. It's not clear exactly how many vampires Angel sired, though he may have brought Spike (William the Bloody) across about 125 years ago. Angelus got his comeuppance in 1898, in the woods of Romania. He chose the daughter of a Gypsy clan chief to feast upon, and they took their vengeance by giving him back his soul.

The demon in Angelus remained buried beneath the onslaught of a conscience for nearly a century, until making love with Buffy broke the curse and freed the demon once more. Before Buffy could send him to Hell with Acathla, Angelus killed Jenny Calendar and left her in Giles' bed as a horrible example of his evil. Willow performed the Ritual of Restoration just moments before Buffy dispatched Angel to Hell; He returned with his soul -- if not his full sanity - - intact.

Induced by drugs into a simulated state of bliss, Angel morphs into a dangerously playful incarnation of Angelus. Judging by his demeanor, we'd say that Angelus heartily enjoys the "doximall" that actress Rebecca Lowell slips into his champagne. He bites and taunts the actress, tossing her around his apartment and stalking her up to the offices. Angelus admits to Rebecca that he has never killed a famous person, but it wouldn't be any fun now without some proof. Wesley and Cordelia aren't safe from his sharp wit or rough treatment, as Wesley is tossed aside and Cordelia is taunted about her lack of acting ability.

Wesley subdues Angelus by shoving him into the open elevator shaft; he proceeds, with Cordelia's help, to chain the unconscious Angelus to his bed. After the drug wore off, Angel regained dominance.

Angelus appears in Borsa, Romania in 1898, right on the cusp of receiving his soul as a punishment from the Gypsies for killing one of their own. We learn that the Gypsy girl was his birthday present from Darla. After the Gypsies' retribution, Darla rejects Angelus. He stumbles into the street, trying to recapture his lost cruelty but he finds he can no longer kill.
