Sire Whipped (Look at it as if Angelus was Spike's sire)
Spike to Angel: "You were my sire man! You were my yoda!"
Angel and Spike had an interesting relationship. From what the show was telling us on screen at least (although many people think otherwise), it wasn't a sexual or a family relationship, but one more of jealousy. Angelus constantly taunted Spike about Dru cheating on Spike with him. Anyway, here are is some pretty interesting information on Angel/Angelus as Spike's sire.
Angel
The vampire with a soul, who reverted to Angelus when he experienced pure happiness. Before becoming a vampire Angels name was Liam, a gambler and a drunk. Until Darla turned him into a Vampire. The meanest vampire, worse than The Master and even more cruel.
"For a hundred years, I offered an ugly death to everyone I met. And I did it with a song in my heart'
For about 200 years hell reigned for Angelus and Darla, Spike and Drusilla were ruling the Earth, until one night Darla brought Angelus a gypsy girl. The gypsy clan did the worst thing possible and gave Angelus a soul returning him to Angel. For years Angel walked the streets living on rats til he met a demon called Whistler. Whistler introduced him to Buffy, who Angel helped out randomly. Something led to another and Angel and Buffy hooked up and became a couple, Angel experienced a moment of pure happiness and tuned to Angelus.
Spike: No more of this 'I've got a soul' crap?
Angelus: What can I say? I was going through a phase.
Angelus made Buffy and the Scoobies life hell tortured Buffy and killed Miss Calender, in the season finale of the second season Angelus got his soul and Buffy sent him to hell. Though Angel came back to Sunnydale he and Buffy realised there was no future for them and Angel left to go to LA.
In LA Angel met a half demon called Doyle who had mind shattering visions, he was sent to help Angel on his path of redemption, til Doyle died and passed his visions onto Cordelia who was working for Angel. Wesley is the book guy who came into Angel as a Rouge Demon Hunter and is almost best friends with Gunn.
Angelus
The young Liam met Darla in an alley in Galway in 1753 in his twenty-sixth year of life. Admired both his good looks and his roguish ways, she sired him into unlife. He initiated himself as a vampire by brutally killing his family and their friends, and mostly everyone else in the village. He started with the cemetery groundskeeper shortly after rising from the grave. He terrorized Galway for an indeterminate amount of time before going back to his abandoned home. His sister was the first to fall victim, as she welcomed him back as her "Angel" (perhaps, inadvertently naming him) and invited him into the house. His mother followed as his next victim. His father was the last family member to fall.
Angelus was the scourge of Europe for over a century. In 1860, he met Drusilla, an innocent clairvoyant, whom he drove mad. She fled to a convent, and on the day she was to take her Holy Orders, Angelus turned her into a vampire. It's not clear exactly how many vampires Angel sired, though he may have brought Spike (William the Bloody) across about 125 years ago. Angelus got his comeuppance in 1898, in the woods of Romania. He chose the daughter of a Gypsy clan chief to feast upon, and they took their vengeance by giving him back his soul.
The demon in Angelus remained buried beneath the onslaught of a conscience for nearly a century, until making love with Buffy broke the curse and freed the demon once more. Before Buffy could send him to Hell with Acathla, Angelus killed Jenny Calendar and left her in Giles' bed as a horrible example of his evil. Willow performed the Ritual of Restoration just moments before Buffy dispatched Angel to Hell; He returned with his soul -- if not his full sanity - - intact.
Induced by drugs into a simulated state of bliss, Angel morphs into a dangerously playful incarnation of Angelus. Judging by his demeanor, we'd say that Angelus heartily enjoys the "doximall" that actress Rebecca Lowell slips into his champagne. He bites and taunts the actress, tossing her around his apartment and stalking her up to the offices. Angelus admits to Rebecca that he has never killed a famous person, but it wouldn't be any fun now without some proof. Wesley and Cordelia aren't safe from his sharp wit or rough treatment, as Wesley is tossed aside and Cordelia is taunted about her lack of acting ability.
Wesley subdues Angelus by shoving him into the open elevator shaft; he proceeds, with Cordelia's help, to chain the unconscious Angelus to his bed. After the drug wore off, Angel regained dominance.
Angelus appears in Borsa, Romania in 1898, right on the cusp of receiving his soul as a punishment from the Gypsies for killing one of their own. We learn that the Gypsy girl was his birthday present from Darla. After the Gypsies' retribution, Darla rejects Angelus. He stumbles into the street, trying to recapture his lost cruelty but he finds he can no longer kill.
In "Fool For Love," we see that Drusilla is Spike's actual sire. It makes more sense in terms of their relationship and it having lasted so long, but many people continue to believe that Angelus was more of a sire, actually teaching Spike what it was like to be a vampire.
"Destiny" (Angel 5.08) brought forth a whole new element into Angel and Spike's relationship and why the two never got along.
*Flashback*
(William walks in on Angelus and a woman whose face he can't see)
WILLIAM: Well... looks like you haven't had your fill of her after all—
(Angelus leans back, revealing that's he's been with Drusilla.)
DRUSILLA: The little children didn't come out to play. Did you miss me, pretty William?
ANGELUS: I'm sure he did, Dru. After all... you are his destiny.
DRUSILLA: Oh. That's so sweet.
(William is not pleased)
WILLIAM: Don't touch her!
ANGELUS: Little late for that, Willy. And I really don't like it when you raise your voice to me.
DRUSILLA: William, don't play such a sad tune. Give us a kiss, then.
WILLIAM: Why did you...? You knew. You knew she was mine.
ANGELUS: Did I?
WILLIAM: You knew bloody well! (attacks) Unh-aaaugh!
ANGELUS: Just don't get it now, do you?
(he picks William up by the lapels, throwing him onto the couch, sits down beside him)
ANGELUS: Well, you're new... and a little dim. So let me explain to you how things are now. There's no belonging or deserving anymore. You can take what you want, have what you want... but nothing is yours. Not even her.
WILLIAM: You're wrong. We're forever, Drusilla and me.
DRUSILLA: (enchanted) Are we?
ANGELUS: Ah, still the poet now, aren't we, Willy?
WILLIAM: William.
ANGELUS: Right. William. You know, you really should find a new name for yourself. It just doesn't strike the right note of terror.
(Angelus stands, goes over to Drusilla)
ANGELUS: Tell you what... William. If you want her... come and take her.
(Drusilla holds her hands out, beckoning William. William charges Angelus angrily.)
*End Flashback*
SPIKE: Come on, hero. Tell me more. Teach me what it means. And I'll tell you why you can't stand the bloody sight of me.
ANGEL: Tell it to your therapist.
SPIKE: 'Cause every time you look at me... you see all the dirty little things I've done, all the lives I've taken... because of you! Drusilla sired me... but you... you made me a monster.
ANGEL: I didn't make you, Spike. I just opened up the door... and let the real you out.
(Spike picks up the cross that burned Angel before and swings it at Angel, knocking him across the room. Spike holds the cross in his hands.)
SPIKE: You never knew the real me. Too busy trying to see your own reflection... praying there was someone as disgusting as you in the world, so you could stand to live with yourself. Take a long look, hero. I'm nothing like you!
ANGEL: No. You're less. That's why Buffy never really loved you: Because you weren't me.
SPIKE: Guess that means she was thinking about you... all those times I was puttin' it to her.
ANGEL: All right... (changes into vampire face) let's finish this.
(Spike changes into vampire face as well. They charge each other.)
Take it however you want, but Angel and Spike have a very complex relationship whether he is Spike's sire or not.
